September/October 2005 - Bunny Blessings

Well, for those of you who were waiting for September's photo, I apologize for the lack of an update. However, I'll do my best to make it up to you by featuring not one, not two, but a series of THREE photos for September/October. Our first-ever bunny triptych!

I recently received two pictures of Callista, or "Callie", from her doting bunny dad, Steve B. Many of you are familiar with Callie's rough start in life, having been picked up by animal control after being found abandoned in a cage in a local park on a hot summer day in 2004 with no food, no water, and two young bunnies, only to give birth the following day to another litter of 11!

Well, this girl has found her forever home with a human who loves her and is willing to cater to her every need. By his own admission, Steve is wrapped around her little paws. He says that Callie pretty much has the run of the townhouse while he's home. "She spends her days sleeping in the living room under the table between my sofa and recliner where she grooms two small pillows with a couple friends. In the evening she predictably moves under the dinner table for her naps (maybe the tv is too loud or flashy to stay on the day side). Then sometime after ten she gets all squirrelly and starts running around the place like a crazy girl, same as she does in the morning while I make her breakfast. She usually starts under the coffee table, sprints a lap around the dinner table, then flies up the stairs, all with great midair sidekicks over toys. She once did such a strong binky off the bottom stair that she landed five feet away."

The first picture is of Callie when she came to us, thin and urine-stained, just over one year ago, in late August of 2004. Roll over the image with your mouse to see pictures two and three, very recently submitted by Steve, of a happy, healthy Callie today. The second picture shows her playing soccer, and the third is of Callie resting her head on a "freezy-pack" on a hot afternoon. (Did I forget to mention we suspect she may be just a little on the spoiled side?) : )

We're so glad to see Callie leading the bunny life she deserves and hope you enjoy the photos as much as we did!
