November 2005 - Litterbox Training for Dummies
November's photo is of Winston and was taken by Tanya and Joanna in our Cottage Grove foster home. It shows the creativity that can be required by our foster homes in dealing with foster bunnies and their varying issues. The moral here? "Maximize the chance of success"!
In Winston's defense, he came to us last summer with a back injury that made using a litterbox more difficult for him. He is doing great now, and has since been adopted by Judy L and has moved to NW Wisconsin to live with a dog, 3 cats, 2 turtles and the queen of the house, a dwarf Hotot named Snowball. Oh, yeah, and they're all attended to by three human servants. : )
Judy says that Winston and Snowball are living happily ever after. She shared, "They share the same food dish and have never had a spat, as far as I know. They love to snuggle and she grooms him frequently (He is still too stubborn to groom her in return). His litterbox habits are continuing to improve (I'm very proud of him!)." Yay, Winston!
If you are currently litter training your bun and need some suggestions, you can find some great info in the House Rabbit Society's Litter Training FAQ. The Ontario Rabbit Education Organization also has a great article, complete with a downloadable litter training guide.
