Funding a Second Chance

As a nonprofit organization, the Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society relies solely on donations for its survival. There are many different needs within the organization that you can choose to support with your donation.

  • Sponsor a specific foster rabbit. Foster rabbit sponsorships now start at $150 a year. As more and more rabbits come to MCRS having already been sterilized at a shelter, we can now offer two sponsorship levels. The $250 Sponsor-A-Foster will help those rabbits who need to be sterilized or sterilized rabbits who have special medical needs at the time we assign a sponsor. The $150 24-Carrot "Bunny Backer" sponsorship is for already-sterilized rabbits who enter our fostering system. The sponsor funds are used for daily care and basic medical needs.
  • Gift memberships are a great gift any time of year! Consider giving a bunny lover in your life a membership to MCRS.
  • There are many expenses that come up through the year that cannot be accurately predicted. For these expenses, we have set up the Special Needs Fund. Many foster rabbits are "sponsored," but occasionally their medical needs exceed their sponsorship funds. When that happens, it is usually significant. For example, Misty Rose accumulated over $800 and Rudy accumulated over $300 without a sponsor. There are also expenses that occur only once in several years. The August '04 confiscation of 140+ rabbits is one example. Another is the need to purchase a new kennel system for quarantined rabbits in the Cottage Grove foster home. The Special Needs Fund will provide income for those things and more!
  • The General Fund continues to supports the daily activities of MCRS, such as our educational efforts and general operating expenses. These necessary expenses directly support our mission of education and adoption.

If you would like to become a member, purchase a gift membership, sponsor a homeless rabbit, or make a contribution to the General Fund or Special Needs Fund, please complete the Membership & Donation Form today!

Please contact us if you have questions about any of these opportunities.
