Our Top Ten Most Needed Volunteers

(as of September 2009)

  1. Fundraising Coordinator

Help coordinate various fundraising projects for MCRS. Current activities include seasonal sales of chocolate bunnies and holiday cards; an annual walk; semi-annual Brew Hop fundraisers; periodic letters to membership. Evaluate new opportunities to determine if viable for MCRS. Evaluate current activities to determine whether they should be continued. Must have convenient internet/email access. Most tasks can be done from your own home. Experience not required - just willingness to learn and help on this important function! :)

  2. Newsletter Coordinator

Put together and distribute monthly online newsletter. Collect material for articles throughout the month. We use a very user-friendly service for creating the actual newsletter, so only moderate computer skills are required. Must have convenient internet/email access. Virtually all tasks can be done from your own home.

  3. PETCO Rabbit Socializers - Burnsville, Roseville, Maplewood

Spend an hour or so once a week at a PETCO store exercising and socializing with the resident adoptable rabbit(s). You commit to one specific day weekly and can then go anytime that day. We ask you spend at least one hour with the rabbit at play, so commitment is about 1.5 hrs/week (or more if you want!). Email access is helpful to get updates on your store, announcements applying to all PETCO stores, etc.

  4. Supply Sales volunteers at SSP

Weigh out supplies, write up receipts, make change, keep basic records of sales. We need a pool of volunteers to do this function as we offer sales at every public event. Training is provided. Even if you can only do one event each month, your help would be appreciated. Get to meet fun fellow bunny folks, too! Email access helpful for coordinating scheduling. The more people we have for this important function, the more events we can offer at SSP!

  5. Adoption Event Co-Coordinator

Plan and organize MCRS adoption events at SSP. These events bring together rabbits, volunteers and adopters so they can choose the right bun for them and finalize the adoption. Convenient internet/email access required. Most tasks can be done from home, with the notable exception of the actual event, currently held every other week.

  6. Supply Sales location (your home!) either south of the river or NE metro

Duties similar to Supply Sales Volunteer except done at your own home. We ask locations to be available either by appointment or for set hours at least twice a month. You need a space about 4' x 10' to be used both for storing supplies and providing enough space to weigh out individual orders for customers. Particularly looking for locations in the south metro and in the northeast metro.

  7. Education Director (significant time commitment)

Help coordinate all the various aspects of MCRS' Education mission. Supervise the Leaders responsible for email/vmail, website, classes, publications, agility, marketing, and events. Works directly with the President. Convenient internet and email required. Majority of tasks can be done from your home.

  8. Development Director (significant time commitment)

Help coordinate all growing support areas of MCRS that make our mission of Adoption and Education possible. Supervise the Leaders responsible for retail sales, bookkeeping, volunteering, fundraising, grant requests, risk management, and membership. Works directly with the President. Convenient internet and email required. Majority of tasks can be done from your home.

  9. Educational Events/booth volunteers

Help spread educational information about living with rabbits by staffing educational events and MCRS booths at festivals/Expos/etc. Individuals expressing interest will receive information on each upcoming event and have the opportunity to sign up or skip it each time. Liking to talk to people in public settings is important. Email is helpful for scheduling purposes.

  10. Administrative Assistant to the President

Need someone with good computer skills to take over routine administrative tasks from President. Adding/removing people from email lists; setting up access to shared online documents; updating online calendar as events are scheduled; occasional blog posts. Must have convenient access to internet/email. Virtually all tasks can be done from your home.
