Bunny Boot Camp Class

a.k.a. How to Outsmart a Rabbit!

In the past, we have offered a Bunny Basics class that is designed for human attendance only and gives a high-level overview of what it really means to live with a house rabbit. Boot Camp is a new class, designed for human and rabbit attendance. The first 30-45 minutes of class the bunnies remain in their carriers while the people discuss some of the psychology behind dealing with rabbits and the particular issues attendees have with their rabbits. During this time, a number of behavioral issues will be discussed including:

  • Rabbit Psychology - think like a rabbit!
  • Picking up your rabbit - without a battle!
  • Trimming toenails - without any trauma (for either of you)!
  • Dealing with an anti-social rabbit
  • Positive reinforcement - without making your rabbit overweight
  • Rabbit attitude (or "Rabbitude") and determining the cause
  • Rabbit communication

Afterwards, we do some actual hands-on training so that the humans can get immediate feedback on what they are doing right and wrong and so that MCRS educators (a.k.a "boot camp drill instructors") can help interpret bunny body language.

The Bunny Boot Camp class is presented at locations across the metro area and is free of charge. Registration is required as we try to keep the number of class participants limited to about six so that people and their bunnies get individual attention. To find out when the next class is scheduled near you, see our events calendar.
